I’m pretty sure you’re looking at the whole thing wrong. She needed Neal to tell her to pick the lock because he’s a criminal. When I’m locked in a room, I don’t automatically think to pick the lock. But if I’m locked in a room with a criminal (regardless of gender) they’re probably gonna tell me to pick the lock.
And it may seem out of character because we don’t really know much about El’s character. But we do know that she seems to be the one that solves half of Peter’s character and she’s extremely resourceful. So I don’t think it’s really out of character that she would get a little ahead of herself and think maybe she knew more about crime-solving than she really does. It seems reasonable to me.
And what exactly is wrong with the show saying she doesn’t blindly obey her husband? That’s actually a good thing for them to be showing us…
